Ethics in Artificial Intelligence[1], a pivotal domain of research, concentrates on the ethical standards and considerations associated with the creation and utilization of AI technology. This encompasses Machine Ethics, a subfield that investigates the creation of ethically competent AI systems, and Robot Ethics, which scrutinizes the ethical dimensions of building and interacting with robots. Key ethical principles such as transparency and autonomy are meticulously examined, along with potential biases present in AI algorithms, including those used in facial recognition and AI in healthcare. The domain also investigates possible remedies for bias and inequity in AI, especially in recruitment processes. In addition, the impact of AI on society, the notion of AI consciousness, and issues related to legality and weaponization are also explored. Lastly, this field underscores the significance of ethical frameworks and guidelines, institutional and governmental measures, and ethical decision-making in AI.

Definición de términos

En ethics of artificial intelligence is the branch of the ethics of technology specific to inteligencia artificial (AI) systems.

The ethics of artificial intelligence covers a broad range of topics within the field that are considered to have particular ethical stakes. This includes algorithmic biases, fairness, automated decision-making, accountability, privacidady regulation. It also covers various emerging or potential future challenges such as machine ethics (how to make machines that behave ethically), lethal autonomous weapon systems, arms race dynamics, Seguridad de la IA y alignment, technological unemployment, AI-enabled desinformación, how to treat certain AI systems if they have a moral status (AI welfare and rights), artificial superintelligence y existential risks. Some application areas may also have particularly important ethical implications, like sanidad, education, or the military.
